Tips for Giving

Giving Guidelines

• Only offer items/services that will appeal to fellow-beings. Don’t waste time posting items you wouldn't put in week-end sales.
• All items must be fully functional. Items can be slightly damaged, but provide full details of damage when you post your description.
• All items that are damaged in ways that make them unsafe to use are unacceptable. All electronics, tools and equipment of any kind must include all material essential for their safe operation.
• You must be the owner of your GiveG item or have the right to Give it. You are not allowed to infringe any copyright or any other article, which is under license.
• Items that are prohibited on GiveG include: all illegal items, pornography, stolen goods, firearms, ammunition and weapons, living creatures and unauthorized/illegal wildlife products, prescription and illegal drugs, recopied media, counterfeits and unauthorized replicas, products that have been recalled by the Consumer Protection societies, hazardous materials (such as explosives, radioactive materials, flammable gases, liquids and solids, and toxic substances) and generally offensive material.

GiveG reserves the right to make judgments about whether or not content is appropriate.

Any members not following these guidelines will be immediately suspended from using GiveG.

Be Honest about your GiveG Offer
Describe your GiveG offer honestly. Be up-front with fellow members and declare the true condition of your item.

Examine your item before posting: maybe your CD has a scratch on it, your jeans have a small hole in the pocket or your antique table has a slight chip on one of the legs?

It’s also important to note the age of your item as well as any model numbers that can date your item. Your fellow members will recognize if your bicycle is 12 instead of 2 years old!

Once the receiving member receives your item, they will rate your service (based on the condition of your item, speed of transaction etc) and give a feedback.

Your online member profile will show all feedback from receiving members.

Describing your GiveG Offer
Every GiveG offer has a 'Brief Description' and a 'Detailed Description'.

The Brief Description will show wherever items are listed.
Create an eye catching description that will make your GiveG stand out.

To help Receivers find your GiveG offer, be sure to name your giveables as precisely as possible and list it in the category that matches your offer best.

Value of GiveG Reward-points
Reward-points do not represent any currency or monetary value.

We do give suggested recommendations on how many reward-points you might ask for your GiveGoffer (see below), but it’s up to you on how many reward-points you ask for in exchange for your item / service. That’s part of the fun of GiveG – you decide on the worth of your offer.

But if you ‘charge’ too many GiveG Reward-points, your GiveG offer will not be desirable to Receivers.

We recommend asking for reward-points that reflect a fair market value, based on the demand for the offer, the age, condition and desirability.

If you decide that your GiveG offer seems too 'cheap' or too 'expensive' for Receivers, you can change the value of your reward-points at any time.

Choice of Category
When offering a giveable, you have to select the category that matches your offer best. This will help Receivers to find your GiveG offer.

You can only list your offer in one category. But if you have an item that has an expiry date, you can feature your GiveG offer in "Time Sensitive GiveG Offers".
